Barwell......................3 Norton & Stockton Ancients...0 (FA Vase, 6th Round) BARWELL are through to the semi-finals of the FA Vase after overcoming their Teesside opponents with a strong second half performance on Saturday (6th). Two late goals from top scorer Adam Cunnington ensured the Canaries' place in the semis, where they will meet holders Whitley Bay in the two-legged tie. The first leg will be played at Kirkby Road on Saturday 27th March and the return leg will take place on Easter Saturday (3rd April). Barwell initially found it hard to break down a disciplined Norton & Stockton side and the scores remained goalless at half-time. But the hosts came out firing after the restart and took the lead through a Kev Charley penalty on 48 minutes. Norton & Stockton pushed forward in search of an equaliser as the tie drew to a close but they were unable to find a way through a stubborn Barwell defence. And their run in this season’s Vase was brought to end when Cunnington caught them on the break seven minutes from time and again just four minutes later.
